Understanding your prescription
Your prescription is a short set of numbers that describes exactly how your eyes focus.
Once you know what they mean, choosing the right lenses becomes simple.

What the numbers mean
SPH (sphere) shows how much correction you need for short or long sight. CYL (cylinder) and AXIS describe astigmatism — a slight irregular curve in the eye. ADD is the extra power for reading, used in progressive and reading lenses.
PD (pupillary distance) is the gap between your pupils. It makes sure the optical centre of each lens sits right in front of your eye.
